Welcome to the Tweed Valley Osprey season 2008!

Young ospreys from the 2007 season in the Tweed Valley. This year, we've decided to provide the diary in the form of a blog, so that you can add your comments and feedback to our updates on what the ospreys are up to.

The blog is held on a separate site to the main Forestry Commission Scotland osprey pages. If you've come from there and want to go back, or have arrived here from elsewhere and want to know more, just follow the link at the side of each posting.

We'll have more information here shortly.

Go to Tweed Valley Ospreys pages on the Forestry Commission Scotland website.

  1. I have just been helping to get the Glentress Watch Centre ready for the new season: sweeping up the dust, cobwebs and mouse droppings! Got my first view of the season of the main nest on the CCTV. The camera position seems higher and we should get good views of the chicks later on. Pity the branch above and behind the nest has gone as it was often used by the adult birds. Perhaps they will use the branches to the side. I hope the adults appreciate the 'renovations' to their home! Has anyone had a possible sighting of any of the Tweed Valley ospreys; not just those birds passing through.

  2. Thanks Nigel, especially for all your hard work getting things up and running! We rely very heavily on our wonderful team of volunteers to run the centres.
The nest hss indeed been given some maintenance by the Forestry commssion rangers, both to make it more stable in high winds, and more acessible for our cameras. we're looking forward to improved views!
