After our tragedy at Dunedin, Florida, where all 3 chicks died, the last possibly from shock of being removed from the nest, it is great to hear of successful banding. Of course most of our nests seem to have survived it well, but that one incident has made me wonder it if wouldn't be better to forego banding when there's just one chick. <br />Diana McCoyUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16209566947441032998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243001195523227683.post-20451790136990534362013-04-10T10:38:26.301+01:002013-04-10T10:38:26.301+01:00Brilliant to hear an egg is expected shortly. The injured bird rehabilitated last year is one of Errol's siblings but 4 years younger. He was from the same parents at the same nest site, so it is good to know that young birds bred in the area are returning successfully.Tweed Valley Osprey Projectnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243001195523227683.post-10204479351143251042012-04-04T09:19:20.682+01:002012-04-04T09:19:20.682+01:00Was anything ever heard of 'Errol' after h...Was anything ever heard of 'Errol' after he left the nest in 2005?Nicknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243001195523227683.post-46319513281089800132011-09-07T09:16:37.462+01:002011-09-07T09:16:37.462+01:00vowtomwell done all! ospreys are notoriously bad p...vowtomwell done all! ospreys are notoriously bad patients in care and to sucessfully get this one to the point of release is a real acheivement- congrats to all involved! The bird may have eaten fish containing a fisherman's lead pellet? There appears to be similarities in the condition of the two birds.Iainnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243001195523227683.post-83905768972760200542011-08-24T10:57:15.032+01:002011-08-24T10:57:15.032+01:00"You put your left leg in, shake it all about..."You put your left leg in, shake it all about ..."<br /><br />I saw an osprey catch a large fish in rain on a very wet day in Finland.
